A long time ago, in a country far, far away, a little girl was born to American parents in southeastern India.  On a bright sunny day in December 2009, the family had their first visit with Santa Claus. While having lunch, the little girl's parents struck up a conversation with other moms and dads from different parts of the world and began discussing Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.  It was then that the little girl’s parents were first introduced to the idea of a Tooth Fairy that gifted coins from all over the world. The mom and dad LOVED the idea and began collecting coins every place they went.

As the years passed, the mom, dad and little girl moved back to the States and quickly welcomed two little brothers. Their collection of coins continued to grow, and they began planning for the day their International Tooth Fairy would make her debut.  Of course, like anything a crafty and imaginative mom plans to do, the plan grew and grew and grew. What began as a suggestion that the little girl gets coins from the countries where they’d lived and traveled, became something altogether different and more exciting.

Not only would the little girl get coins, but she would also get a personalized letter from the tooth fairy explaining where she was when she received the message that the little girl lost her tooth. Details about a child who’s tooth had also been collected would be shared as would details about villages, towns and cities far and wide that the tooth fairy visited and collected coins from. A map was always on hand to locate the village and mark where the coin was found. Google became our friend as we researched the villages, towns and cities to learn about their cultures, landscapes and people. We learned about the country's flags and talked about what made us different and what made us the same. The mom would also send a text message notifying the tooth fairy that a tooth had been lost, and the tooth fairy would always respond with ‘See You Soon!’ much to the little girls delight. Stories were told about the Tooth Fairy and her friends that delighted and entertained the children for hours as they imagined where she was and what she was doing. Pictures were drawn of the Tooth Fairy which adorned the refrigerator, walls and doors. Little jingles would be sung while wiggling around and brushing extra carefully. The Tooth Fairy became a special part of our children's childhood.

The little girl kept all her coins in a little coin purse and her letters in a drawer, but she soon had quite a collection and needed some way to keep them safe and organized. In the meantime, her little brother started losing his teeth as well, and the same Tooth Fairy brought him coins from all over the world. Each letter they received was different and exciting and uniquely written just for them. As news of their tooth fairy traveled, other parents were excited to hear what they were doing and share coins with the family from their own travels. Some moms and dads also began gifting their children coins from far flung parts of the globe and the idea for My Traveling Tooth Fairy was born!!

For the last five years we have been collecting and writing and sharing our Traveling Tooth Fairy far and wide with friends, family and acquaintances.  We have been gifted coins from every part of the world, and now it is time to share our tooth fairy with you.
